Key Take-Away: These are some good Take-Aways. I think the Foreign Affairs angle is spot on. And I predict it will come back to bite us in the ass. The Filibuster Proofing Angle is worth watching. I think they have at least 70 votes +. I also agree this puts enormous pressure on House Speaker Paul Ryan. But he’s essentially a lame-duck. If he wants to leave a legacy, he might just buck the Freedom Caucus.
Key Take-Away: There is not one point Ezra makes I can take issue with. The Primary goal was funding of CHIP. That was accomplished. The Second Goal was keeping Immigration Reform in the news. That was accomplished. The Third Goal was protecting the flank of those 10 Senators up for Re-election in 2018 in states The IDIOT won. That was accomplished. The Fourth Goal was getting some assurances from Sen. Mitch McConnell of Regular Order on Immigration Reform. That was accomplished. The Final Goal was creating Triangulation amongst The Republican House, The Republican Senate and The Republican White House. That was accomplished.
I understand I’m looking at this from a Center Left POV. But that’s my Worldview. I’m Pragmatic/Moderate. I also understand that Progressives, in General, will either hate this deal or be lukewarm to it. I understand. My comment would be that Elections Have Consequences. And very rarely does the Party not in control of power get its way. So stay engaged. Stay enraged. And keep holding folk accountable, even when they make choices you disagree with.
Key Take-Away: Ouch! This article is a continuation of the piece from the day before with additional details. I will say it again, The IDIOT is in way over his head. This is complicated by his deteriorating mental capacity, which makes him ripe for the picking. This is a brutal piece.
We are seeing why some folks chose to go to work for him. They simply would not have this much involvement in crafting legislation in other Administration. Power corrupts. And power, unchecked, is deadly. It’s time we pull the plug on this shitshow.
Key Take-Away: The mental instability of The IDIOT is center stage in these negotiations. I come back to the central theme that John Kelly and Stephen Miller, along with Congressional leaders, are content with this situation. They have immensely more power than they would have in a normally functioning Administration. This is simply not normal and they represent Exhibit A-Z of folks using this situation for their personal benefit. It will be extremely interesting to see what happens as The IDIOT’s approval continues to fall.
The fact that this man is reliving his past and is filled with an unhealthy obsession with Barack Obama speaks volumes. I suspect that he’s in a very foul mood right now and will explode at some point over the next week. If I’m Mueller and Team, I might just assist those efforts along with some strategic story leaks or an arrest. Primarily because The IDIOT appears to be spiraling, and the folks that should be providing guidance and counsel are so focused on consolidating their power that they refuse to deal with the situation as it exists. This presents a ripe opportunity to create a wedge.
Key Take-Away: This is superb reporting by The Washington Post. They saw Politico’s piece and topped it. Adding some key corrections. It’s obvious that they spoke with John Kelly and had him refute that it was he that killed the deal and was all McConnell’s and Ryan’s doing. Ouch. This reporting also underscores that The IDIOT is simply not all there mentally. You simply can’t do business in good faith with someone like that. I suspect we’ll get some additional deets in the coming days. I would also look for any resolution to come from the Moderate wing of both Parties.
